Our Mission
Our mission is to promote, cultivate and
preserve our Palestinian heritage through education, social activities, and
charitable work in the Ramallah community as well as in the community at large. By emphasizing Christian values and the
importance of family and education, we strive to foster respect, cooperation,
and hospitality.
Our Vision
We strive to have a thriving membership that sponsors social and educational activities, as well as supports charitable organizations. We will have a club home that benefits our community and others.
Our Community Today
We have approximately 200 households in Birmingham who either immigrated from Ramallah, Palestine or are their descendants. Ramallah is located about ten miles north of Jerusalem. The name Ramallah is composed of “Ram”, an Aramaic word defined as a high place or mountain, and “Allah”, the Arabic word for God. This is significant because it is the heart of who we are as Christians living our faith through Jesus Christ.
Ramallah is beloved by families who have fond memories of their “old country”. These memories are kept alive by maintaining ties with other Ramallites throughout the United States. The American Ramallah Federation was created shortly after many immigrated to the United States and whose sole purpose was to continue the traditions of their home country. The Federation is flourishing and is composed of many clubs throughout the U.S.
Early immigrants worked hard to provide for their families. Education was a priority and numerous second and third generations are college educated, many of whom have graduate degrees. They work as engineers, teachers, lawyers, nurses, doctors, restaurant owners, and other occupations and serve our Birmingham community in many ways. Our Christian faith is of paramount importance.
Our club works to perpetuate Palestinian culture and promotes Christian values, charity, education, and hospitality.
